Wayne State University athlete Cedric Drenth was recognized as the GLIAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week. This marks the second occasion this season and the sixth time in his career that Drenth has received this accolade, according to an announcement from the league office.

This past weekend, during his senior year, Drenth was instrumental in helping Wayne State’s men’s tennis team secure road wins against Lake Superior State University and Michigan Tech University. Competing in the No. 1 singles slot, Drenth achieved a 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 victory over Lake Superior State and a 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 win against Michigan Tech. His doubles performance, alongside partner George Day, was equally strong as the pair recorded a 6-3 win against Lake Superior State and a 6-4 victory over Michigan Tech.

The Wayne State men’s tennis team, led by Drenth, is scheduled to compete next on April 11 against GLIAC newcomer Roosevelt University.
