Wayne State University women’s basketball senior Shea Tripp has been named one of the 10 female honorees for the inaugural Allstate NACDA Good Works Team. This team recognizes 20 student-athletes from collegiate winter sports for their achievements in community service, athletics, and academics. The expansion of the Good Works Team now includes student-athletes from all collegiate sports and divisions.

Tripp has made significant contributions on the court, being voted to the All-GLIAC First Team for two consecutive seasons and named to the D2CCA All-Midwest Region Second Team. She ranks fourth in school history with 1,305 points and is among the top 10 in various other categories such as steals, free throws made, rebounds, assists, field goals made, games played, assists per game, and games started.

In academics, Tripp is a Health and Physical Education Teaching major who has consistently earned recognition on the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll with a term GPA of 3.5 or higher. She will be acknowledged with several academic awards this year including the Da ADA Academic Achievement Award and GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team honors.

Tripp’s community involvement includes nearly 500 hours of volunteer work through activities like Cards for Hospitalized Kids, working with Team Impact, meal packing events for 9/11 commemoration, and more. Her efforts have also led her to be a finalist for the John Wooden Citizenship Cup.

The announcement by Allstate and NACDA marks the first-ever inclusion of all collegiate sports in their Good Works Team initiative. Auburn gymnast Sophia Groth was named team captain. “I’m honored to be named captain of this incredible team,” said Groth. “Leadership isn’t just about what we accomplish in sports—it’s about how we give back.”

Elizabeth Brady from Allstate stated that these student-athletes embody leadership beyond competition: “From youth empowerment to mental health advocacy, their work changes lives.” Pat Manak from NACDA added that this initiative highlights positive stories across intercollegiate athletics: “Congratulations to the student-athletes and institutions represented on the inaugural Winter Team.”

The full roster of honorees can be found on the Allstate NACDA Good Works Team website.
