Wayne County Judge David Parrott has been charged with domestic violence for an assault on his partner.
According to Click on Detroit, Van Buren Township police were called to the home that Parrott shares with the victim on the evening of February 8. When they arrived, the victim told officers she had been assaulted by Parrott, suffering a bump on the head, a cut on the hand and pain in her tailbone. Parrott was arrested and later charged with domestic violence, assault and battery.
Parrott was first elected judge in 2002, then reelected in 2008 and 2014. The Detroit Free Press says the district under his supervision includes Belleville, Huron, Romulus, Sumpter and Van Buren, which is Michigan's 34th Judicial District.
Parrott earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and his law degree from Wayne State University. Before becoming a judge, he worked as an attorney with the law firm Sullivan, Ward, Asher & Patton. He has been recognized for his work in conservation, volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club and serving in local civic organizations.
