WAYNE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT: Coronavirus Response Continues at Wayne County Public Health, Non-Essential Services are Suspended

Wayne County Health Department issued the following announcement on March 16.

The Wayne County Public Health Division will continue its efforts to respond to the coronavirus (COVID-19) public health emergency during the 2-week shutdown of non-essential Wayne County Government services, but other non-emergency services are suspended through March 29.

On March 13, Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans suspended non-essential county services. Beginning Monday, non-essential county employees will a two-week paid furlough through l March 29. In accordance with this order, Public Health Division services and operations are limited to the programs dedicated to the response of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The following public health services are suspended through March 29:

  • Children's Special Healthcare Services
  • Early On
  • Environmental Health Services
    • Water/Well Permits
    • Septic/Onsite Sewage
    • Rodents, West Nile Virus, Bedbugs and Rabies
    • Child Care Centers & Adult Foster Care Facilities
    • Body Art Facility Licensure
    • Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program
    • LeadSafe Wayne County
    • Radon, Mercury and Mold
    • Pools, Campgrounds, and Beaches
  • Hearing & Vision
  • Healthy Families America Wayne Program
  • HIV/AIDS Counseling & Testing
  • Immunizations (Children and Adults)
  • Peer Counseling & Breast Feeding
  • Safe Sleep Initiative
  • Sexually Transmitted Disease Control
  • WIC (WIC benefits will be extended for 30 days and in-person appointments are excused during this emergency). WIC physical offices will not be open.
