WAYNE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT: Wayne County Public Health Division Discloses First Exposure Site

Wayne County Health Department issued the following announcement on March 19.

The Wayne County Public Health Division today announced AMC Fairlane 21 theaters in Dearborn as the county's first potential COVID-19 exposure site. Health officials are investigating one presumptive-positive COVID-19 case where the person attended a movie on March 10.

Individual details of the case:

· An adult female with no domestic or international travel history, and with no known contact with other presumptive-positive COVID-19 cases; the person is currently isolated.

· The potential exposure occurred between 6 PM to 10 PM on Tuesday, March 10;

· The exposure site is AMC Fairlane 21 theaters, 18900 Michigan Ave., Dearborn.

Wayne County Public Health Division is identifying close contacts of this individual, assessing for risk and determining management of those exposed. The epidemiology team is also working with the business to determine the identity of customers who were in the establishment at this time.

For patrons who were at the establishment during those times, Wayne County Public Health Division recommends that you watch for symptoms of COVID-19 through March 24th. Symptoms include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. If any develop, stay at home and promptly call a healthcare provider or hospital prior to arriving so that the appropriate preventive measures can be put in place.

In an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, the Wayne County Public Health Division monitoring residents with presumptive-positive results, their current health status, and current symptoms. These cases are urged to self-isolate for the safety of the general public.

COVID-19 symptoms include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. If such symptoms develop, stay at home and promptly call a healthcare provider or hospital prior to arriving so that the appropriate preventive measures can be put in place.

Wayne County Public Health Division has launched a public awareness campaign emphasizing prevention steps and information for older adults in our Senior Services Division Meals on Wheels Home Delivery program and casting a wide net to all community and faith-based organizations.

The campaign also offers two information lines for residents, 734-287-7870, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM or 2-1-1 for information 24-hour, 7-days a week.
