WAYNE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT: Michigan wants kids caught up on vaccines after pandemic dip

Vaccine

Wayne County Health Department issued the following announcement on July 14.

Wayne County can help your family get caught up on immunizations. Contact our Public Health Division Immunization and Vaccines for Children Program at 734-727-7125 to schedule a visit. Our services are available by appointment only.

Michigan's health department is urging that children be caught up on their vaccines as soon as possible after a drop in immunizations due to the cancellation of appointments during the coronavirus pandemic.

The state said the percentage of 5-month-olds fully up to date on all recommended vaccines was less than half in May, down from about two-thirds in recent years. Vaccination coverage declined in almost every other milestone age cohort below age 2, according to a study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
