Three of four Intensive Care Unit beds were being filled with patients as of Jan. 7, 2021, a state survey showed.
In total, 2,475 Intensive Care Unit beds were being occupied out of the 3,240 available, Michigan Capitol Confidential reported. The survey, which was conducted by the state, shows hospital capacity reports in all eight regions of the state and can be viewed here.
These levels are the same as pre-epidemic levels, Michigan Capitol Confidential reported.
Michigan's bed capacity was at 75%, which is the same capacity during non-pandemic years. In 1980, the hospital bed capacity rate was 78% and in 2015 the Intensive Care Unit bed capacity was at 65%, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported.
