CANTON TO HOST PICNIC IN THE PARK FEATURING SPECTACULAR FIREWORKS DISPLAY

Fw

Town of Canton issued the following announcement on Aug 13.

Area residents are invited to attend Canton’s Picnic in the Park on Friday, September 24, 2021, from 5-9 p.m. in Heritage Park, located behind the Canton Administration Building at 1150 S. Canton Center Road in Canton, MI.

Plenty of festive food choices from area restaurants and food trucks, plus live music featuring popular artists on two stages, will be available leading up to the big fireworks extravaganza that is scheduled to begin at dusk.

“We’re hoping friends and neighbors grab their big blankets and head over Heritage Park, where they’ll be able to pick a spot for their picnic and watch our live music performances, choose from a variety of great local eats and drinks, and then sit back and enjoy some amazing fireworks,” stated Jon LaFever, Canton Leisure Services Deputy Director. “Canton has a well-respected tradition for its fireworks, and although this event is much more low-key than our previous Liberty Fests, we hope that area residents will enjoy this type of casual fall event that culminates with some of the best fireworks around.”

Featured entertainment will include performances held at the Amphitheater, as well as on the Canton LIVE Stage, which is located at the Heritage Park soccer fields on the north side of the park. The Amphitheater Stage performance schedule is as follows: 5:00-6:30 pm: Packin Heat Band; 7:00-8:00 pm: Killer Flamingos; 8:00-8:30 pm; plus, an encore performance by Killer Flamingos following the Fireworks. Live music will also be performed on the Canton LIVE Stage, with its schedule as follows: 5:00-6:30 pm: Motor City Sensation; 7:00-8:00 pm: CrasherZ Band; plus, an encore performance by CrasherZ following the Fireworks.

Satisfy your taste buds with festival food from food trucks and area restaurants including: Great Lakes Confections; Impasto; Maraschinos Pub; PizzaPazza; and more! A Beer and Wine Garden will also be available within the Amphitheater area on the south side of Heritage Park for individuals over 21 years of age.

Those expecting to see a Liberty Fest-type of festival with rides and multiple styles of entertainment will have to be patient and wait until June 2022, when Liberty Fest will hopefully be able to return to Canton. Picnic in the Park participants will be expected to follow Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) guidelines that may be in place at the time of this event.  Spectators are also encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to ensure that every guest can enjoy this outdoor community celebration.

A convenient Uber, Lyft, parent drop-off/pick-off spot has been designated on Civic Center Boulevard in front of the Canton Public Library’s main entrance. All event Welcome Booths will also feature children's wristbands that can be filled out to include their parents’ contact details, in case both parties become separated during this event. Event-goers are also reminded that all bikes must be parked in park bike corrals.

There is no admission fee to attend this outdoor event and parking is also free. For more information about Canton’s Picnic in the Park, visit www.cantonfun.orgabout Canton To Host Picnic In The Park Featuring Spectacular Fireworks Display or call 734/394-5460.
