Town of Canton recently issued the following announcement.

Good news!  The Village Theater at Cherry Hill was recently awarded a second grant in the amount of $93,756 from the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant (SVOG) program, which provides emergency assistance for eligible cultural institutions and organizations affected by COVID-19. The grant was awarded by the U.S Small Business Administration to enable recipients to recoup expenses and recover from the period when they were unable to earn revenue. Funds must be expensed by June 30, 2022, to repay eligible expenses, including but not limited to payroll, utilities, maintenance, and repairs, as well as contracted performances.

The Village Theater at Cherry Hill staff have allocated the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant funds to cover wages, utilities, and contracted services to bring in new performance opportunities.

The SVOG program was established by the Economic Aid to Hard-Hit Small Businesses, Nonprofits, and Venues Act and the American Rescue Plan Act. The program has administered more than $16.2 billion in grants to shuttered venues across the United States through the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA)’s Office of Disaster Assistance. To date, the funding has been awarded to thousands of organizations throughout the country.
