City of Northville recently issued the following announcement.

City mourns death of retired Fire Chief Jim Allen 

Retired Fire Chief James (Jim) Allen passed away on Nov. 3 at the age of 84. He worked for the Northville City Fire Department for 50 years, serving 36 of those years as chief. In that role and in other community service roles, he was dedicated to the well-being of this community. Jim is survived by his wife, Patricia Allen, two children and three grandchildren. His daughter, Shari Allen, is a longtime employee of the city. City administration and employees express their deepest sympathy to Patricia, Shari and their family.

Visitation is at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, on Nov. 12 from 2 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held Nov. 13 at 11 a.m., instate at 10 a.m., at the First Baptist Church, 217 North Wing Street, Northville. Pastor Jonathan Wilkes will officiate the service. Former Fire Chief Allen will be laid to rest at Rural Hill Cemetery in Northville.
