Town of Canton issued the following announcement on Nov 10.
Wayne County has announced a new pilot voucher program to provide household hazardous waste and recycling services to residents. Canton has received a limited number of these vouchers for direct distribution to residents. Due to the limited amount, 90 vouchers, Canton Public Works will distribute them on a first-come, first-served basis.
Vouchers can be picked up at Canton’s DPW building located at 4847 Sheldon Road between the hours of 7:30am – 3:30 pm, Monday – Friday (Please note, all township offices will be closed Thursday, November 11 for Veteran’s Day). Residents can also request vouchers directly from Wayne County by calling 734-326-5708 or emailing ESGHelp@waynecounty.com.
The voucher will allow you to drop off hazardous waste at ERG Environmental Services located at 13040 Merriman Road in Livonia. ERG is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Acceptable hazardous waste includes items like household paints, stains and dyes; floor was and floor care products; furniture polish and bathroom cleaners; non-controlled pharmaceutical waste; glue; and fertilizer, and other items.
