Message from Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy:
The United States has now surpassed every other country in the world with our per capita numbers of positive COVID-19 tests. People are dying at an alarming rate. As you have heard everyone say countless times, these are unprecedented, scary, and turbulent times. I have certainly never seen anything like this - and I hope to never again.
I have been proud to serve as your Wayne County Prosecutor for the last sixteen years. During these years I have traversed this County countless times - meeting and speaking to many of you in person. I have spoken at Optimist, Kiwanis, Rotary Clubs, Union halls, corporations, businesses, law enforcement meetings, schools, neighborhood gatherings, and too many churches to count.
We have held Town Hall Meetings and Citizens’ Academies all over the County and for the last eighteen months or so, I have personally visited 38 of Wayne County’s 43 jurisdictions to meet with your Mayors, City Managers, Township Supervisors, Police Chiefs, and other City officials.
I go where the people are for many reasons. I want to let you know about our office and how it works and what we do, to tell you about our initiatives - old and new, to answer your questions, to hear your concerns, and to keep you abreast of the law.
I have not been able to do this for the last month. We are an essential office and our work keeps going on daily. This terrible virus has affected our operations and justice issues in our County, and in our State. I will use this Facebook page to keep you informed. And hopefully, before too long I will once again be able to come to your places of business, churches, school, block clubs, service organizations, and into your homes to speak to you in person.
Be well, be safe, and be proactive,
Kym L. Worthy
Wayne County Prosecutor
