SAFETY ALERT
We are investigating two recent carjackings of rideshare drivers. These occurred in the DPD 7th Precinct and DPD 11th Precinct. In both incidents, suspects ordered a ride, were armed and approached the driver announcing a robbery and ordering them out of the car. The suspects then fled in the rideshare driver's car. The suspects also assaulted one of the drivers.
Anyone with information is asked to call Commercial Auto Theft at 313-596-2555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak-Up.
Here are some safety tips to remember for rideshare drivers:
Stay aware and alert.
Confirm who your driver or rider is, and pay attention to their rating.
Follow your intuition. If something doesn't seem right, it may not be.
