FINAL UPDATE: Tonight, we lost a hero. A beloved officer was shot and killed around 7:40 p.m. near Joy Rd. and Marlowe St.
The suspect was also shot and killed.
The 2nd Precinct officers were responding to a shots fired call around 7:30 p.m.
Shortly after they arrived on scene the officer was shot and then rushed to a nearby hospital.
We are in the early stages of the investigation and will release further details when available.
