C&S Machine Products, a manufacturer of precision components, will expand its production facility in Bertrand Township in Berrien County in Michigan.
According to a news release, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced on Aug. 5 that the manufacturer was increasing its footprint in the state.
“Congratulations to the entire C&S Machine team on your continued success here in Michigan. We appreciate your vote of confidence in Southwest Michigan’s talented workforce and the Niles community as you grow your company,” MEDC CEO and Michigan Strategic Fund president and chair Quentin Messer Jr. said in the release. “We are grateful to the Governor and legislators for the continued support of the Michigan Business Development Program.
We’re proud to join our partners at Bertrand Township, Cornerstone Alliance, and the Greater Niles Chamber as we celebrate this long-standing Michigan company’s expansion and look forward to working together to grow, add jobs and provide greater opportunity for our friends and neighbors.”
The $34.5 million expansion of the facility has the backing of the Michigan Strategic Fund and is expected to facilitate 85 well-paying jobs.
“This investment by C&S Machine Products will create 85 good-paying manufacturing jobs in Berrien County, underscores the strength of our talented manufacturing workforce, and the attractiveness of our business climate,” Whitmer said. “Together, we will continue growing Michigan’s economy and investing in our hardworking people and innovative businesses so they can thrive. Right now, Michigan’s economy is growing.”
The governor added that the state would provide a $750,000 grant towards the expansion of the facility.
“We continue to be impressed with the skills and performance of our team here in Niles,” C&S Machine President Shaun Phy said. “We look forward to aggressively expanding our business here making new investments in people, machinery and advanced technology.”
The company was established in Buchanan in 1966 and moved to Bertrand Township in 2016, according to the release. A major facet of its manufacturing involves aerospace components, and they currently have 106 staff on-site.
The expansion of its facility will allow C&S Machine to develop new buildings for additional machines, so the company can further manufacture components related to metal processing, hydraulic testing capabilities and medical devices.
