Patent office approves 3 patents for Plymouth innovators in week ending May 28

Patent 12

There were three patents granted in Plymouth in the week ending May 28, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

This is two more than the week before. Patents included a retractable endoscopic suction tube.

The earliest patent filed which was granted in the week ending May 28 belonged to Plastipak Packaging, Inc. who filed in August 22, 2014.

The number of approved patents in the U.S. grew steadily from roughly 225,000 in 2009 to more than 285,000 in 2019. The number of patents approved suffered a slight downturn in 2020.

Gene Quinn with IPWatchdog said the system underneath patents have become unwieldy, specifically for medical innovations.
