#Repost from Detroit Public Safety Foundation: Join us in honoring Detroit Police Department Officers Steven Miller and Christina Messina who are receiving the Medal of Valor on Thursday night at the Above & Beyond Awards Ceremony.
On Tuesday, November 16, 2021, Police Officers Steven Miller and Christina Messina were dispatched to an Assault & Battery in the 9th Precinct. Once on scene, they attempted to communicate with the offender, but he ignored them and walked inside. The victim told the officers that he was armed with a gun. The officers walked to the front of the house where they saw the offender run down the stairs. The officers immediately followed giving verbal commands for him to stop. At the bottom the staircase they attempted to arrest the offender when he produced a handgun, pointed it at Officer Miller’s head and fired one shot, missing him. Officer Miller was able to disarm the offender and take him into custody without further incident.
Officers Miller and Messina displayed true bravery and commitment in the face of danger. For their actions, they are receiving the Medal of Valor.#ab2022
