CHARGED: Michael McCombs, 62, is charged in connection with fraudulently obtaining funds from businesses.
From December 28, 2022, to January 7, 2023, it is alleged that Defendant McCombs claimed to be a Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) safety officer. It is further alleged that the defendant used this claim to solicit charity money from multiple businesses in Detroit. An investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of the defendant on January 7, 2023.
Defendant McCombs is charged with one count of charitable solicitation act, one count of false pretenses – less than $200, three counts of impersonating a peace officer, two counts of attempted charitable solicitation act, and two counts of attempted false pretenses – less than $200.
Note that defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
