Senior Health Expo and Disability Resources Fair to take place Oct. 13 at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center

The City of Dearborn will host service providers at two free events on Friday, Oct. 13, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave. Members of the public are encouraged to attend the Senior Health Expo and the new Disability Resource Fair, which will take place simultaneously in the Lincoln Ballroom. Both events are free of charge.

Annual Senior Health Expo offers services to Dearborn seniorsDearborn-area seniors, ages 55 and over, are invited to attend the Dearborn Parks & Recreation Department’s Annual Senior Health Expo. Attendees will have access to a variety of health care screenings and can also register to receive a flu shot. Registration forms are available in the Senior Services Office, located in the east wing of The Center.

The Expo will also include information about senior housing and police and fire safety.

New Dearborn Disability Resources Fair provides support to all residents, familiesNew this year is the Disability Resources Fair brings together a host of providers and non-profits specializing in supporting individuals and families with disabilities. The free event, which features nineteen community organizations and City departments , will offer information for community members of all ages on assistive technologies, healthcare services, social services, support groups and activities, public safety, voter registration, in-person voting, and resources for navigating college and work environments.

Attendees can also look forward to light refreshments and raffle drawings.

The fair is hosted by the Disability Concerns Commission, a board of volunteers appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the city council.
