Absentee ballots DO NOT require postage to be mailed in the United States. You may have received an absentee ballot with old instructions requiring a postage amount. Please disregard! You may mail them, stop by the Clerk's Office during regular business hours or drop them in one of the secure ballot drop boxes in several locations across the City.
Visit Vote Livonia for more information or call the Clerk's Office at (734) 466-2230.
Livonia drop boxes are located at:
City Hall, 33000 Civic Center Drive
Kirksey Recreation Center, 15100 Hubbard
Bicentennial Park, 36000 West Seven Mile Road
Sandburg Library, 30100 West Seven Mile Road
Clements Circle, 9999 Harrison
Newburgh Village, 11999 Newburgh Road
There is also a drop box located inside City Hall but it is only available Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Drop boxes must be and are accessible 24 hours a day/7 days a week during the 40 days prior to an election up to 8 p.m. on Election Day. Drop boxes must be and are securely locked and bolted down, and they must be designed to prevent the removal of absentee ballots and applications, except by authorized election officials. In addition, all Livonia drop boxes have video surveillance.
Voters may only use the drop boxes that are located in their jurisdiction of residence. If you vote in Livonia, your ballot must be dropped in a Livonia ballot box.
In November 2022, the voters of Michigan overwhelmingly passed a constitutional amendment (Prop 2) that eliminates the requirement for postage on an absentee ballot and provides the right to state-funded drop boxes. The drop box is a secure, locked structure that voters may use for the return of completed absentee ballot applications and voted absentee ballots.
