Residents of Detroit are being reminded by the City of Detroit Department of Public Works (DPW) that the deadline for yard waste collections is this month. The final two-week cycle for yard waste pick up will begin on Monday, December 11th, and run until December 22nd. This will be the last opportunity for Detroiters to dispose of their yard waste until April 2024.

According to the DPW, residents are advised to put out all remaining yard waste on their regularly scheduled pick up date between December 11th and December 22nd. Crews will collect bagged leaves and appropriately bundled brush during this period. It is important for residents to follow these guidelines to ensure that their yard waste is properly collected.

To assist residents in determining their scheduled collection dates, the DPW suggests visiting the official website of the City of Detroit, www.detroitmi.gov, and entering their address in the "My Home info" field. In addition, residents have the option to sign up for text alert reminders by texting their street address to 313-800-7905. These reminders will be sent out the day before their next scheduled pickup.

In light of the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays, it is important to note that trash, recycling, and bulk pickups will be postponed by a day. This adjustment is due to the holidays falling on weekdays this year. Furthermore, the collection of Christmas trees will take place from January 2nd to January 12th.

The City of Detroit is urging all residents to take advantage of this final yard waste collection opportunity before the winter season sets in. Proper disposal of yard waste not only helps maintain the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of the city but also contributes to the overall well-being of the community.

In conclusion, the City of Detroit Department of Public Works is reminding residents of the approaching deadline for yard waste collections. It is recommended that all remaining yard waste be placed out for pick up between December 11th and December 22nd. Residents can find their scheduled collection dates on the official website of the City of Detroit or sign up for text alert reminders. The DPW emphasizes the importance of proper disposal of yard waste to maintain a clean and attractive environment for all residents.
