The City of Detroit has announced that it is seeking proposals from qualified solar providers for the development of locally-sited utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. The goal of this initiative is to generate at least 55,000 MWh/yr of clean energy for the city.

In a statement released by the city, it was stated that they are looking for a solar partner who has the necessary experience and capability to ensure a fully managed and well-executed process. The selected provider will be responsible for designing, engineering, building, operating, maintaining, and decommissioning ground-mount solar PV projects at specific sites in the city.

The city is seeking a partner who can handle all power, capacity, or similar sales from the project. This partnership aims to establish a sustainable and reliable source of renewable energy for the city of Detroit.

Interested solar providers are encouraged to submit their questions regarding the project by January 24, 2024, before 4:00 p.m. EST. The deadline for submitting proposals is February 15, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. EST.

To provide more information and address any queries, a pre-bid meeting will be held on January 9, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. The meeting will be conducted via Microsoft Teams, with the meeting ID being 291 740 404 027 and the passcode being y57aDc.

The City of Detroit has also provided resources on how to respond to bids, including a document and a video, to assist interested solar providers in the proposal process.

This announcement presents a significant opportunity for solar providers to contribute to the city's renewable energy goals and make a positive impact on the local community. As stated by the city, "The goal is to identify a solar partner with the necessary experience and capability to ensure a fully managed and well-executed process."

Interested parties are encouraged to review the requirements and submit their proposals in a timely manner. The City of Detroit is committed to promoting sustainable and clean energy solutions, and this project marks another step towards achieving that vision.
