Livonia residents are advised of changes to city services and facilities during the Christmas holiday period. City offices, the library, senior center, historical park, and district court will be closed on Monday, Dec. 25 and Tuesday, Dec. 26. However, the Kirksey Recreation Center will have modified hours on Christmas Eve and will be closed on Christmas Day. The recreation center will resume normal operating hours on Tuesday, Dec. 26.
In addition to the closures, there will be a delay in trash pickup during this week. The city has announced that there will be no trash pickup on Monday, Dec. 25. Instead, trash pickup will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. Livonia residents are reminded to put their trash out on the day after their regularly scheduled pickup day.
For residents who are looking to dispose of their Christmas trees, the city has provided a schedule for collection. Christmas trees will be collected for composting on residents' regular trash collection day during the week of Jan. 8-12. However, it is important to note that all decorations must be removed from the trees and they should not be left in plastic bags. After Jan. 12, trees may be disposed of at the Wood Waste Disposal site.
Livonia residents are encouraged to plan accordingly and make note of the changes to city services and facilities during the Christmas holiday period. City officials are working to ensure a smooth transition during this time and appreciate the cooperation of residents.
