Livonia residents are advised that there will be a change in trash collection schedule during the upcoming New Year's holiday. The City of Livonia has announced that trash pickup will be delayed by one day for the entire week following New Year's Day. This means that residents should put out their trash on the day after their regularly scheduled collection day.

In addition to the change in trash collection, several city facilities will be closed on Monday, January 1 and Tuesday, January 2. This includes all City of Livonia offices, branches of the Livonia Public Library, the Civic Park Senior Center, Greenmead, and the 16th District Court. However, the Kirksey Recreation Center will have modified hours of operation during the holiday period. On New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, the recreation center will be open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. On Tuesday, January 2, the center will be open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The City of Livonia is also reminding residents about the proper disposal of Christmas trees. Christmas trees will be collected for composting on residents' regular trash collection day during the week of January 8-12. However, it is important to note that all decorations must be removed from the trees before placing them out for collection. The trees should not be left in plastic bags. After January 12, residents may dispose of their trees at the Wood Waste Disposal site.

Livonia residents are encouraged to take note of these changes in order to ensure proper disposal of trash and Christmas trees during the holiday season. As the City of Livonia spokesperson said, "Please be sure to put your trash out on the day after your regularly scheduled day."
