The Buildings, Safety Engineering and Environmental Special Land Use Hearings are scheduled to take place on February 21, 2024. The hearings will address several proposed use cases for different properties in the city of Detroit.

Starting at 9:00 AM, the first case to be discussed is SLU2023-00052. The address in question is 1437 Virginia Park St., which is currently a two-family dwelling. The proposal is to convert it into a four-unit Multiple-Family Dwelling in an R2 (Two-Family Residential) Zoning District.

At 9:30 AM, the second case, SLU2023-00218, will be presented. This case involves the properties located at 19400, 19416, 19420, 19426, 19430, and 19436 Grand River Ave. The proposal is to expand an existing Light Duty Vehicle Service Establishment and include off-street parking on the same zoning lot, totaling approximately 0.46 acres in a B4TMSO (General Business within a Traditional Main Street Overlay) Zoning District.

Lastly, at 10:00 AM, the third case, SLU2023-00190, will be discussed. The address under consideration is 13001 Harper Ave. The proposal is to intensify an existing 2,965 square foot Motor Vehicle Filling Station building by renovating a 500 square foot interior space to establish a Carry-Out Restaurant in a B4 (General Business) Zoning District.

These hearings will provide an opportunity for the public to voice their opinions and concerns about the proposed changes to these properties.
