Chipper service for brush and branch disposal will resume in Livonia for the 2024 season on Monday, March 25, as announced by Livonia city officials. Residents are reminded that tree branches and limbs must be longer than four feet in length, and when preparing branches for chipper service, they should be stacked with all cut ends in one direction, preferably towards the street.

According to the city's guidelines, from now until Memorial Weekend, residents do not need to request chipper service as crews will be circulating through neighborhoods approximately every fifteen working days. However, it is important to note that stumps, logs, vines, or roots cannot be placed out for chipper disposal during this time.

For brush and branches disposal during June through September, residents are required to submit requests when their brush is at the curb. This can be done by contacting the Department of Public Works at (734) 466-2655, choosing the brush option, and leaving a voicemail with their address. Alternatively, residents can email their brush request to brush@livonia.gov or use the City of Livonia app, available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play, to tag the exact location of their service requests.

Additionally, brush and branches can be disposed of on residents' weekly trash collection day if broken down and placed in garbage cans, paper compost bags, or tied into bundles of less than four feet in length and less than fifty pounds. Yard waste collection is set to resume on the week of March 25, with a limit of five bundles per week.

Livonia residents are also encouraged to take advantage of the free wood waste disposal at the Wood Waste Disposal Facility located on Glendale Avenue east of Farmington Road. For further information, residents can visit the city's Wood Waste Disposal Facility webpage.
