Detroit Corporation Counsel Conrad Mallett has announced the appointment of James Noseda as the new Deputy Corporation Counsel. With 29 years of experience in the City's Law department, Noseda has a background in commercial/tort litigation, civil rights, class actions, and taxation cases. He has also played a crucial role in the reform of the police towing process in the city.
Noseda, who joined the City's law department in 1995, has held various key positions within the department, including serving as the Liaison to Detroit City Council and Supervising Assistant Corporation Counsel for Commercial/Tort litigation. In his role, he led a team of lawyers and significantly contributed to the reform of the police towing process, ensuring transparency and fairness in the system.
Expressing his confidence in Noseda's abilities, Mallett stated, "Jim is a brilliant litigator who knows this work and this department intimately." In response to his appointment, Noseda expressed his honor, saying, "I am honored to be entrusted the responsibilities of Deputy Corporation Counsel and to continue serving the City of Detroit."
A Detroit native, Noseda earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan in 1982 and graduated with honors from DePaul University College of Law in 1988. He has worked with the Corporation Counsel under five mayors, showcasing his dedication and experience in serving the city.
As Noseda steps into his new role as Deputy Corporation Counsel, his wealth of experience and expertise are expected to continue benefiting the City of Detroit, furthering its legal initiatives and serving its residents.
