Detroit Health Department Hosts Public Health Week Offering Free Health Screenings

The Detroit Health Department is set to host Public Health Week from April 1 to 6, offering Detroiters free health screenings and public health services with no appointment, ID, or health insurance required. Chief Public Health Officer Denise Fair Razo shared, "We are inviting Detroiters to take part in free health screenings and public health services that promote a healthy lifestyle."

The theme for this year's Public Health Week is "Centering and Celebrating Culture in Health," with various activities and services planned to promote well-being. The event will feature checks for blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, and kidney function, as well as HIV and syphilis testing. Additionally, there will be fitness classes, CPR training, Narcan training and kit distribution, mental health makeovers, lead screenings, and a men's panel discussion called "Cuts and Conversations."

The schedule for the event is as follows:

- Monday, April 1, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

- Tuesday, April 2, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

- Wednesday, April 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

- Thursday, April 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

- Friday, April 5, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

- Saturday, April 6, from 12 to 2 p.m.

The Public Health Week activities will be held at the Detroit Health Department, Detroit Police Department precincts, and City of Detroit Recreation Centers. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of public health services and provide accessible resources for Detroit residents to lead healthier lives.
