Karter Fitzpatrick, a redshirt senior pitcher from Wayne State University (WSU), has been named a College Sports Communicators (CSC) First Team Academic All-American. This recognition comes after he received a Second Team nod in 2023, making him the fourth player in WSU's baseball program history to be honored multiple times and the first since 1979.

Fitzpatrick, who hails from Monroe, Michigan, holds the title of the program's all-time winningest pitcher with a career record of 31-9. He joins previous multi-time honorees outfielder Paul Janas (1974-75), pitcher Tim Flannery (1976-77), and outfielder Kevin Ponticelli (1978-79). Across all sports at WSU, Fitzpatrick is the 25th two-time recipient and eighth for the 2023-24 school year alone. He maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.73 in Civil Engineering.

The two-time GLIAC Pitcher of the Year (2023 and 2024) ranks first in starts (46), second in innings pitched (293), third in strikeouts (270), and fifth in winning percentage (.775) within WSU's record books. This spring, Fitzpatrick struck out 102 batters—leading the GLIAC and tying for ninth nationally—while achieving an 8-3 record over 13 appearances. His season ERA stood at 3.90, which was as low as 3.19 before his league tournament start, with an opposing batting average of .221—the lowest since his freshman year.

In his final home start on May 4 against Purdue Northwest, Fitzpatrick delivered a seven-inning perfect game on just 64 pitches, recording seven strikeouts among the game's outs.
