DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's golf program, under the direction of 24th-year head coach Mike Horn, has added three student-athletes to its roster for the upcoming 2024-25 campaign.

Joining the Warriors this month are Troy Chapman (Lexington, Ohio), Jack Julian (South Lyon, Mich.), and Luc Warnock (McGregor, Ont. / E.J. Lajeunesse [Northern Illinois]).

Troy Chapman, a freshman from Lexington High School in Ohio, tied for 12th at the 2024 Ohio Amateur Championship Qualifying at Medina Country Club. He was a four-year varsity letterwinner and helped his team to an Ohio Cardinal Conference title as a senior. Coach Greg Smith led him during high school where he earned First Team All-OCC honors in his last two seasons and served as a golf team captain. "Troy has taken the non-traditional road where he sat out last year after high school and has worked on his game to get it ready for this level," said Coach Horn. "He has had a very good year working on being ready and we're looking forward to Troy competing very soon for a starting spot."

Jack Julian, also a freshman, hails from South Lyon High School in Michigan. He tied for second at the 2023 Golfweek Amateur Tour at Timber Trace with a score of 74. A three-year varsity letterwinner in golf and hockey, Julian served as team captain in both sports during his senior year. "Jack is somebody I have been looking at for years and I am very impressed on how he has dedicated himself to his golf game over the last couple years to get it to a point where he is ready to compete at the collegiate level," noted Coach Horn.

Luc Warnock joins as a graduate student from Northern Illinois University (NIU). In previous seasons, Warnock played in multiple tournaments with notable performances including tying for sixth at the Xavier Invitational and tying for 18th at the Marquette Intercollegiate. His high school career included being ranked among the top-15 golfers in Canada as a senior and competing in various sports such as hockey, basketball, and baseball. "Luc comes to us with a great deal of experience and after having played at Northern Illinois, he should be ready to step in and contribute on day one," commented Coach Horn.
