Both Wayne State University basketball teams have announced their upcoming exhibition games against Division 1 opponents.

The men's team will face Detroit Mercy at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 27.

"We appreciate Coach (Mark) Montgomery and his staff for giving us the opportunity to come back and compete against the Titans this year," commented WSU third-year head coach Bryan Smothers. "It's a great thing for the city of Detroit to be able to see the two Universities in the 313 compete together, especially when it also doubles as a fundraiser to help people in our community. I feel this is something we should do every year!"

The game will benefit Detroit Public Schools K-5, with further details to be announced by the Titans.

On Monday, October 28, the Warrior women's basketball team will travel to East Lansing to face the Michigan State Spartans. The tip-off time at Breslin Center has yet to be determined.

"Competing on a Big 10 court and having the opportunity to be in a Big 10 environment will be an exciting experience for our players," remarked 14th-year head coach Carrie Lohr. "This event will be extra special for the Ayrault family as WSU Assistant Coach Andy Ayrault, WSU student-athlete Annabel Ayrault and MSU graduate student-athlete Julia Ayrault will have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to all be together in a game-like environment with one another. We are grateful to MSU for allowing this to happen."

Both squads begin their regular season on November 8, with the women hosting Malone at 4 p.m. at the WSU Fieldhouse, while the men travel to Jefferson City, Mo., to face Lincoln (Mo.) Blue Tigers, GLVC's newest member.
