The Wayne State University men's cross country team secured third place at the annual Warrior Challenge in New Boston, Michigan. The team finished with 90 points, narrowly missing second place by one point to Northwood's 89.

Tyler Buchanan of Fenton, Michigan, led the Warriors with an eighth-place finish and a time of 25:49.50. Senior Carson Nicoletti from Shelby Township, Michigan, followed closely in 12th place with a time of 25:59.20.

Other notable finishes for Wayne State included Sean Pettis in 19th place (26:12.10), Ty Nagy in 25th (26:26.40), Brady Heron in 31st (26:38.90), Gabe Trevino in 43rd (27:00.70), Sam Martini in 46th (27:10.90), Anthony Vinson in 53rd (27:21.80), Parks Allen in 55th (27:24.20), Aidan Lobsinger in 57th (27:26.60), Adam Hafeli in 64th (27:40.00), Kenny Minto in 93rd (28:24.60), and Ethan Pruzinsky in 102nd (28:37.80).

Head Coach Lofdahl commented on the team's performance, stating, "Our guys faced some very solid competition today and acquitted themselves well. We're a young squad, so having Tyler and Carson as seniors step up and lead the team at our home meet was important. Sean is going to be a monster for us, and we got a glimpse of that today as he was the first freshman to cross the line. Ty and Brady hung in there on a hot day and closed out the scoring for the team."

Lofdahl added, "It would have been nice to score one less point and come out with a trophy for second place, but there are a lot of things that we can build on from this meet. I'm optimistic for how things will go when we head to Louisville in a few weeks."

The Wayne State men's cross country team will next compete on Saturday, October 5 at the Live in Lou Classic at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
