The Wayne State University men's swimming and diving program, led by 28th-year head coach Sean Peters, has announced the addition of seven new swimmers for the 2024-25 academic year. Among these recruits is Gabriel Arias, who joined the program earlier in 2024. Additionally, diver Julio Osuna was previously announced.

The newcomers include Gabriel Arias (Bogota, Colombia), Olin Charnstrom (Oxford, Mich.), Leland Curanovic (Farmington, Mich.), William Debroux (Oro-Medonte, Ont.), Lochlain Hart (Farmington, Mich.), Thomas McCourt (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.), and Tomas Osorio (Medellin, Colombia).

"We are thrilled and excited to welcome our new Warriors – Gabo, Olin, Leland, William, Loch, Thomas, Tomas and Julio," remarked Peters. "These eight new Warriors are very eager to get things going and represent the 313 – in the pool, classroom and community. Gabo, Olin, Loch and Thomas are all backstrokers while Leland, William and Tomas are freestylers. Julio is an exceptional diver. I know they are ready to work hard and I look forward to watching them grow in the program."

Gabriel Arias joined Wayne State's swimming program in January 2024 but did not compete as he was redshirted. He graduated from Liceo Juan Ramón Jiménez High School in Bogota and has set personal bests in several events.

Olin Charnstrom is a graduate of Oxford High School where he won two state titles as a senior. He served as a team captain for two years at Oxford High School.

Leland Curanovic graduated from Farmington High School where he served as a team captain during his senior year. He achieved high placements at various state championship meets.

William Debroux graduated from ÉSC Nouvelle-Alliance in Barrie and competes for the Barrie Trojan Swim Club. He has posted personal-best times at multiple competitions including the Speedo Canadian Championships.

Lochlain Hart also hails from Farmington High School where he received All-State honors among other accolades. He served as a team captain during his senior year.

Thomas McCourt was homeschooled but swam club for Atlantis Swimming-BBA. He has recorded several personal-best times at various championships.

Tomas Osorio graduated from San Ignacio in Medellin where he achieved personal-best times at events such as the Bolivarian Youth Games and South American Youth Championships.
