Wayne State men's tennis team heads to ITA Regional Championships in Grand Rapids

The Wayne State University men's tennis team is set to travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan, for the ITA Regional Championships. The event will be hosted by Davenport University at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex and will run from September 28 through September 30.

Four players from Wayne State will compete against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) opponents in the first round of singles matches. Tom Wasner from Altenholz, Germany, will face Victor Lopes of Grand Valley State. Luis Klaus from Brühl, Germany, is matched against Victor Drojan of Roosevelt. Benjamin Hill from Düren, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, will play Lawrence Ivanov of Grand Valley State. Max Faniel from Theux, Belgium, will go up against Adrian Catahan of Ferris State.

The schedule for the first-round singles matches is as follows:

- Cedric Drenth (Sulzbach, Germany) vs. Gabriel Cuenca (Lewis) at 8:30 AM

- Luis Klaus vs. Victor Drojan (Roosevelt) at 8:30 AM

- Tom Wasner vs. Victor Lopes (Grand Valley State) at 10:00 AM

- George Day (Southampton, United Kingdom) vs. Alex Tikhonov (Rockhurst) at 10:00 AM

For Draw B:

- Benjamin Hill vs. Lawrence Ivanov (Grand Valley State) at 10:00 AM

- Sam Knowles (North Shields, Tyne and Wear, England) vs. Grant Miller (Lewis) at 11:30 AM

- Max Faniel vs. Adrian Catahan (Ferris State) at 11:30 AM

In doubles competition:

For Draw A:

- George Day and Cedric Drenth will face Pablo Herrera and Kai Van-Roon of Illinois Springfield at 4:30 PM.

- Luis Klaus and Tom Wasner are set to play Dallas Ramsay and Luigi Bove of Findlay at 5:30 PM.

For Draw B:

- Benjamin Hill and Sam Knowles will compete against Logan DeHaven and Roberto Esquivel of Cedarville at 4:30 PM.
