Wayne State competes in William Beall Fall Classic

The Wayne State University women's golf team participated in the first 36 of 54 holes at Findlay's William Beall Fall Classic on Monday at Findlay Country Club. The Warriors recorded a score of 613 (+37), placing them in 10th position among the 18 teams competing. Claudia Portillo, from Madrid, Spain, led the team individually with a score of 147 (+3), tying for 11th place.

The individual scores for Wayne State were as follows:

- Tied for 11th: Claudia Portillo - 147 (+3, rounds of 76 and 71)

- Tied for 37th: Ting-Yu Kuo from Taipei, Taiwan - 154 (+10, rounds of 78 and 76)

- Tied for 61st: Orianna Bylsma from Montague, Michigan - 158 (+14, rounds of 75 and 83)

- Tied for 66th: Sophia Wygonik from Westland, Michigan - 159 (+15, rounds of 81 and 78)

- Tied for 78th: Sabel Imesch from Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan -162 (+18, rounds of 84 and 78)

Findlay's team leads the competition by four strokes with a score of three over par. Following them are Missouri-St. Louis (+7), Tiffin (+23), Lynn (+24), Ashland (+29), and Findlay "B" (+29). UMSL's Juliette Lecomte is leading the individual leaderboard at two under par. She is followed by Amelia Ruiz from Lynn (-1), Hayley Dye from Findlay (E), Lisa Marie Schumacher from Tiffin (E), Mary Kelly Mulcahy from Findlay (+1), Megan Thiravong from Saginaw Valley State (+1) and Ashleigh Duflo from Findlay (+1).

The tournament will continue on Tuesday with the opening tee shot scheduled for the same time at 9 a.m., starting with a shotgun start before concluding with the final round.
