Third-year head coach Bryan Smothers and the Wayne State University men's basketball team have released their schedule for the 2024-25 season. The program will compete in 28 games, including 26 against NCAA Midwest Region opponents, with 20 of those being within GLIAC play. Fourteen of these matches will be held at home in the Fieldhouse.

Coach Smothers commented on the scheduling strategy: "Each year you try to balance the number of home games, with the amount of difficult road games early in the season. Having six of our first 10 games at home is really beneficial to get off to a strong start. The two home games to start conference play will also be huge opportunities for our program. Protecting your home court is crucial for any team looking to compete at the highest level."

The season begins with an exhibition game against Detroit Mercy on Monday, October 28, at Calihan Hall. Last year, Wayne State concluded their preseason by defeating Detroit Mercy 88-78.

The regular season starts on November 8 against Lincoln (Mo.), a new member of GLVC. This match marks their first meeting and is one of eight non-conference games scheduled for Wayne State. Other non-conference opponents include Indianapolis, Findlay, Tiffin, Lewis, Michigan-Dearborn, Northwood, and Redeemer.

Wayne State's league schedule kicks off at home against Davenport on December 5. The GLIAC schedule includes a total of 20 games with each opponent faced both at home and away. Notably, Wayne State will only have one stretch where they play more than two consecutive games either at home or away—a four-game road trip from February 13-22.

In league play, Wayne State will face Roosevelt University twice—on January 27 at WSU Fieldhouse and February 17 at Goodman Center in Chicago.

Post-season action sees the top eight teams in conference standings advancing to the GLIAC Tournament starting March 5. Quarterfinals are hosted by higher seeds while semifinals and finals take place on March 8 and March 9 respectively at the highest remaining seed's venue.
