The Wayne State University men's and women's cross country teams are preparing to travel to Romeoville, Illinois, for the Lewis Crossover Invitational hosted by Lewis University. The men will compete in an eight-kilometer race, while the women will run a six-kilometer course.
The event will feature 52 schools from 24 states, including eight teams from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). These GLIAC teams are Davenport, Ferris State, Grand Valley State, Lake Superior State, Michigan Tech, Northern Michigan, Purdue Northwest, and Saginaw Valley State. Wayne State recently competed against runners from Davenport and Lake Superior State during their home meet at the Warrior Challenge.
Last year at the Lewis Crossover Invitational, Wayne State's men's team secured eighth place out of 31 teams. Tyler Buchanan finished with a time of 24:40.30 in 24th place, while Seth Pianga achieved a career-best time of 25:31.90 for 117th place overall. On the women's side, Reagan Justice was the first Warrior to finish with a time of 21:59.10 in 29th place. Briana Vojinov followed with a time of 22:13.90 in 37th place. The women's team ranked ninth among the participating programs.
