Ziad Elsissy, a distinguished fencer and Wayne State University alumnus, will be inducted into the Wayne State Athletic Hall of Fame. The ceremony is scheduled for Friday, October 25, at The Eastern.

Elsissy's fencing career at Wayne State spanned from 2015 to 2018. During this period, he was a four-time letterwinner and achieved All-American status three times. He also secured national runner-up positions in sabre fencing in both 2017 and 2018. In his debut year, he received Second Team All-America honors with a seventh-place finish.

His remarkable record includes 332 victories in sabre events, marking him as the program's all-time leader in wins. This achievement encompasses NCAA Midwest Regional titles in 2015 and 2017, alongside a runner-up finish in 2018 and third place in 2016. Over four seasons at the NCAA Midwest Regional competitions, Elsissy amassed a combined record of 34-8.

At the NCAA Championships, Elsissy's performance was notable. As a senior, he achieved a record of 19-6 with a +41 touch differential. In his junior year, he went 16-9 with +30 touches. His inaugural championship appearance saw him achieve a mark of 14-9 with +19 touches. Overall, his three NCAA Championship appearances resulted in an impressive record of 49-24 with a +90 touch differential. Notably absent from the championships in 2016 due to Olympic qualifications for Rio de Janeiro.

In his freshman year (redshirt), Elsissy compiled a record of 56-16; this improved significantly to winning 74 out of his next year's bouts out of total matches played. His senior season saw further improvement as he achieved victory in over one hundred matches.
