Wayne State divers receive weekly honors after record-breaking performances

Wayne State University divers Julio Osuna and Wen Wadsworth-Curcuru have been recognized as the GLIAC Male and Female Divers of the Week, respectively. The announcement was made by the league on Monday following their performances in a dual meet against Davenport.

Julio Osuna, a senior from Tijuana, Mexico, excelled in his events against No. 21 Davenport, breaking records at the Matthaei Natatorium. He achieved scores of 349.35 at one meter and 374.18 at three meters, surpassing previous records of 339.50 and 359.50 respectively. These scores also met NCAA qualifying standards for six dives.

Sophomore Wen Wadsworth-Curcuru from Kalamazoo, Michigan, secured victories on both the one-meter and three-meter boards against Davenport's women's team ranked 13th nationally. Her scores were recorded as 243.38 and 234.75.

Looking ahead, Wayne State will host an Alumni Meet on Friday, November 1st before facing off against Findlay on November 8th at the Matthaei Natatorium.
