The Wayne State University volleyball team is preparing for its final two matches of the 2023 regular season. The Warriors, who currently hold a record of 10-17 overall and 5-11 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), will face Parkside and Davenport this weekend. The match against Parkside, which has a record of 17-10 overall and 11-5 in the GLIAC, is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. and will be Family Night. On Saturday at 4 p.m., Wayne State will play Davenport (11-16 overall, 7-9 GLIAC) on Senior Day.

Coach Koth expressed anticipation for the upcoming matches: "We're looking forward to the final home weekend of the regular season. We get to thank our families, celebrate our seniors and play two very good opponents, so it should be fun."

In terms of postseason prospects, Wayne State is positioned as the eighth seed for the GLIAC Tournament. They are set to compete against either Grand Valley State or Ferris State in the quarterfinals. A seventh-seed placement remains possible if certain conditions are met. Currently, Wayne State leads ninth-place Lake Superior State by one game.

Reflecting on their recent performance on November 4 against Northern Michigan, where they lost with scores of 1-3 (20-25, -21, 20-25, 27-29), Wayne State showed resilience in various sets but ultimately fell short as Northern Michigan's Jacqueline Smith secured victory with consecutive kills.

Key performances included Dulgar reaching a milestone of 50 assists for the fourth time this season during their match against Northern Michigan.

Earlier encounters with Parkside and Davenport had mixed results for Wayne State. They achieved a win against Parkside on September 30 with scores of W, 3-0 (-21, -15, -14), leveraging significant runs to maintain control throughout each set. However, they faced defeat against Davenport on September 29 with scores L, 1-3 (20-25, -25, 15-25, 18-25), despite moments where they narrowed gaps and led during parts of certain sets.
