The Wayne State University women's golf team is set to conclude its fall season at the Davenport Panther Invitational. The event will take place on Saturday and Sunday at Stonehedge North Golf Course in Augusta, Michigan, a familiar venue for the Warriors as it hosts the GLIAC Championships.

"We always look forward to playing Stonehedge North because it's the site of our conference championship," said head coach Larry Hamilton. "This year it'll be especially good because we have three new players that can benefit from seeing the course before GLIACs in April."

The starting lineup for Wayne State includes Claudia Portillo, Ting-Yu Kuo, Orianna Bylsma, Sabel Imesch, and Sophia Wygonik. Portillo and Kuo are freshmen, while Bylsma and Imesch are juniors. Wygonik is a redshirt senior.

The tournament field comprises teams from Davenport, Gannon, Kentucky Wesleyan, Lake Superior State, Lewis, Northern Michigan, Ohio Dominican, Purdue Northwest, Saginaw Valley State, Tiffin, Ursuline, and Wayne State.

Wayne State claimed victory in this tournament last year among 12 teams. It was their fifth tournament title in program history and their first since 2018. In that event held last October 2023, Beca Vestman achieved Medalist Honors. Returning players Bylsma and Imesch will compete again alongside newcomers Portillo, Kuo, and Wygonik.
