Wayne State University's men's golf team completed the first round of the HawksHead Invitational at HawksHead Golf Course in South Haven, Michigan. This is the second tournament they have hosted this fall. The Warriors' "A" team finished the day with a score of 289 (+1), placing them in second among five teams. The "B" team tied for third with a score of 292 (+4).

Head coach Mike Horn commented on the team's performance, stating, "We were inconsistent again today. Our major flaw this fall has been our inconsistent play. Hopefully we will start our comeback again tomorrow as we've done four of the last five tournaments. Hats off to Andrew Daily with a fine round today. It was a battle for most of the others today."

In individual performances, Andrew Daily from Brighton, Michigan, led the "A" team with a score of 70 (-2), tying for third place overall. Josh DiCarlo and Mat Hawryluk both scored 72 (E), tying for eighth place. Tyler Hurtubise ended with 75 (+3) in 19th place, while Max Leppelmeier scored 77 (+5) to finish in 26th.

For the "B" team, Luc Warnock tied for eighth with a score of 72 (E). Ian Smith and Shawn Sehra both scored 73 (+1), tying for eleventh place. Harrison Chapman scored 74 (+2) to tie for fifteenth, and Josh Lahner concluded with a score of 76 (+4) in twenty-third place.

Individual participants included Chandler Stodolak who tied for nineteenth with a score of 75 (+3), and Tommy Gebeck who finished thirtieth with a score of 79 (+7).

The second round is scheduled to begin Sunday at 9 a.m., starting with a shotgun format.
