The Wayne State University women's fencing team participated in the DeCicco Duals held at Notre Dame's Castellan Family Fencing Center, finishing with a 4-3 overall record. However, they secured victories over Detroit Mercy (22-5), Cleveland State (20-6 with one double forfeit), Florida (22-5), and Lawrence (15-12).

Head coach Andy Tulleners expressed satisfaction with the team's performance: "The team had a good weekend. I was very pleased with how the team fenced and supported each other throughout the day. Overall, I think everyone stepped up their game from last weekend to this weekend. We are looking forward to our strongest meet of the season at Northwestern next weekend."

In the epee category, freshman Reka Galfalvy from Budapest impressed by achieving a 17-2 record for the day, remaining undefeated until her final bout against Northwestern. Senior Vika Shevchenko ended her day with a 14-5 mark, excelling particularly against Florida and Lawrence. Freshman Salma Abdrabou also performed well with a 13-6 record.

For foil events, Wayne State's participants included sophomore Ludovica Mancini from Rome who recorded a 7-4 score. Freshmen Timi Terjek and Noreen Bongado managed scores of 3-8 and 1-4 respectively. Halah Keramane concluded her debut event as a Warrior with a 1-5 record after transferring from Penn State.

In sabre competitions, senior Reagan Byars and sophomore Mehreen Siddiqui both finished Saturday's rounds with identical records of 5-15.

Wayne State will continue their fencing season at the upcoming Northwestern Duals in Evanston, Illinois on February 3rd and 4th.
