Wayne State swimmers head to NCAA Championships

The Wayne State University men's and women's swimming and diving teams are set to compete in the NCAA Championships. The event will take place from Tuesday through Saturday at the SPIRE Institute Aquatics Center in Geneva, Ohio. Each day, preliminaries will start at 10 a.m., with diving prelims at 1 p.m., and finals at 5:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, March 12, diving prequalifications will occur. Competitors for the men include Jeffrey Cottingham Jr., John Martin, and Max Wasiniak. For the women, Mikaela Senkus and Wen Wadsworth-Curcuru will participate. The 800 free relay for both men and women is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Wednesday's events feature Lorenzo Tassinari and Clayton Kinnard competing in the men's 200 IM, while Elly Belmore represents the women. Sabine Branford will compete in the women's 50 free. Trevor Jones and Khalil Ben Ajmia are set for the men's 1000 free, with Megan Sieloff, Barbara Munoz, Jordan Fox, and Alli Vassilakos competing for the women. The day also includes men's 1-meter diving and both men's and women's 200 medley relays.

Thursday sees Lorenzo Tassinari competing in the men's 100 fly. Trevor Jones participates in the men's 400 IM alongside Elly Belmore for the women. In the men's 200 free, Khalil Ben Ajmia and Clayton Kinnard will compete; Jordan Fox, Barbara Munoz, and Alli Vassilakos represent the women. Women's 3-meter diving and a men's 400 medley relay are also scheduled.

On Friday, Khalil Ben Ajmia competes in the men's 500 free; Jordan Fox, Alli Vassilakos, and Megan Sieloff represent the women. The men's team includes Lorenzo Tassinari and Clayton Kinnard in the 100 backstroke event; Elly Belmore competes for the women. Hans Anderson takes part in the men's 100 breaststroke while Trevor Jones competes in the men's 200 fly with Barbara Munoz representing the women. Men's 3-meter diving occurs alongside a women's 200 free relay.

Saturday concludes with Sabine Branford participating in the women's 100 free event. Lorenzo Tassinari and Clayton Kinnard compete again in men's events such as backstroke; Elly Belmore represents women competitors here too. Trevor Jones joins Khalil Ben Ajmia on behalf of their team during competitions like distance swimming – specifically targeting long-distance categories – while others including Megan Sieloff or Jordan Fox also partake within similar activities aimed towards female athletes competing together similarly aligned sporting challenges before concluding everything through relays showcasing collaborative efforts from mixed gender groups throughout entire championship duration itself!
