Wayne State swimmers compete in NCAA Championships

The Wayne State University men's and women's swimming and diving teams commenced their participation in the NCAA Championships at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The competition, which spans five days, saw the Warriors compete in the 800 free relay and have three divers advance to subsequent events.

For the men's team, Wayne State secured ninth place in the 800 free relay with a time of 6:31.21. The team was composed of Khalil Ben Ajmia from Tunis, Tunisia; Trevor Jones from Farmington, Michigan; Thomas Jackowski from Wroclaw, Poland; and Clayton Kinnard from Dexter, Michigan.

In diving events, Max Wasiniak from Huron, Ohio, and John Martin from Brownstown, Michigan qualified for further rounds alongside Jeffrey Cottingham Jr. from Dearborn, Michigan. Wasiniak achieved eighth place at one meter and seventeenth at three meters. Martin placed thirteenth at one meter and ninth at three meters. Cottingham's results were twenty-second and twenty-first respectively.

On the women's side, Wayne State finished eighth in their relay event with a time of 7:22.29. The team included Jordan Fox from Melbourne, Victoria; Barbara Munoz from Yumbo, Colombia; Megan Sieloff from Grand Blanc, Michigan; and Alli Vassilakos who transferred from Carthage College.

Diver Mikaela Senkus advanced after securing sixth place at one meter and third at three meters. Freshman Wen Wadsworth-Curcuru also competed but finished eighteenth and forty-third respectively.

Preliminary events are scheduled to continue on Wednesday starting at 10 a.m.
