Wayne State University's women's tennis team, ranked No. 21, advanced to the finals of the NCAA Midwest Regional after defeating Ferris State University 4-0 on Friday. The match took place at Norwalk High School's tennis courts in Ohio.

This victory marks Wayne State's 11th consecutive win since March 24 and brings them closer to a spot in the NCAA Tournament Round of 16 in Altamonte Springs, Florida. The Warriors had previously defeated Ferris State earlier this season with a score of 6-1.

In doubles play, Wayne State secured the opening point with two matches ending in a 6-0 shutout. Anais Ruyssen and Marta Komar, ranked No. 25 in Division II doubles, defeated Morgan Waller and Ana Sofia Hernandez Ferrer. Dea Gorgidze and Justine Beaulieu also won their match against Maria Fernanda Hernandez Ferrer and Katherine Earnest.

The singles matches concluded quickly for Wayne State as they secured victories in the first three completed games. Gorgidze won her eighth consecutive match against Parker Nolan with scores of 6-3 and 6-2 at the No. 5 position. Beaulieu triumphed over Earnest by identical scores at the sixth flight, extending her personal winning streak to seven matches.

Komar provided the clinching point for Wayne State by defeating Ana Ferrer with scores of 7-5 and 6-1 at the No. 3 position.

One singles match saw Ruyssen facing Waller at the top flight; Ruyssen lost the first set but was leading when play stopped due to time constraints.

Wayne State will face Tiffin University on Saturday to determine which team will advance from this section of the Midwest Regional. The Dragons previously defeated Wayne State earlier this season.
