The Wayne State University women's tennis team, ranked 11th nationally, concluded its two-match home stand with a decisive 7-0 victory over Oakland University on Sunday. This match marked Wayne State's only encounter with a Division I opponent this season. The event took place at the Duchene Athletic Facility in Detroit.

Wayne State's triumph came after a narrow 4-3 loss to Tiffin University earlier in the week.

In doubles play, Wayne State secured victories in all three matches, although one was won by default due to Oakland having only five players available. Malak Arafat and Martyna Szpakowska achieved a 6-1 win against their opponents at the No. 2 position. Anais Ruyssen and Marta Komar also claimed victory with a 6-2 score at the first flight.

Arafat and Szpakowska celebrated their tenth win of the spring season, while Ruyssen and Komar recorded their twelfth victory of the year.

In singles competition, Wayne State continued its dominance by sweeping all matches. Shanice Weekes won by default due to lack of an opponent from Oakland. Arafat faced Edie Hammond but won as Hammond retired early from the match.

Marta Komar posted set wins of 6-3 and 6-4 against Isabelle Pompa at No. 3 singles. Dea Gorgidze defeated Tara Montreuil with back-to-back set scores of 6-1 at the fifth flight. Szpakowska overcame Emma Hultqvist with scores of 6-1, 6-2 in her match.

The most contested match was between Ruyssen and Emilia Jarvinen, where Ruyssen triumphed after losing the first set but recovering to win both the second set and super tiebreaker.

Wayne State will begin GLIAC play on March 29 against Saginaw Valley State in Midland, Michigan.
