In their final game of a three-game home stand, the Wayne State University women's basketball team secured a decisive victory against Lake Superior State Lakers with an 87-57 win. The match took place at the Wayne State Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon.

The Warriors, now holding a 12-6 overall record and 5-4 in the GLIAC, dominated the second half with a remarkable 50-point performance. "WSU notched the game's first seven points over the initial 88 seconds," setting an early tone for their success.

Throughout the first quarter, WSU maintained a lead, ending it at 22-18. In the second quarter, they limited Lake Superior State to just seven points while adding 17 themselves. By halftime, Wayne State led by 12 points (37-25).

The third quarter saw WSU extend their lead significantly with a high-scoring run of 32 points. "Wayne State went on an 18-5 run in just under five minutes before the media timeout," which helped them take control of the game.

In the fourth quarter, WSU outscored LSSU by four points to seal their victory with a comfortable margin. Several players contributed significantly to this win; Gabi Lutchka achieved a personal best of 24 points and Shea Tripp recorded her third double-double of the season.

"Wayne State went 33-of-61 (54 percent) from the field for the contest," demonstrating effective shooting throughout. They also excelled in rebounds and assists compared to their opponents.

Jaden Wilder and Taylor Stacey were notable performers for Lake Superior State but couldn't turn around their team's fortunes as they remain winless in conference play.

Looking ahead, Wayne State will face Parkside in Kenosha on February 1st as part of their upcoming road games.
