Griffin Milovanski earns GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week honor

Wayne State University's junior place-kicker, Griffin Milovanski, has been recognized as the GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week for the concluding week of the 2023 season. Milovanski, hailing from Saugatuck, Michigan, demonstrated remarkable performance in his team's final game against Ferris State.

During the match, Milovanski successfully converted four out of five field goal attempts. His only miss was a wide right on a challenging 55-yard attempt. Notably, he achieved three field goals from distances exceeding 40 yards—two at 48 yards and one at 42 yards. This feat allowed him to set a new Wayne State University (WSU) single-season record with a total of 16 field goals. He became only the third WSU kicker in over four decades to make four field goals in a single game. Throughout this season, eight of his successful field goals were from beyond 40 yards.

Milovanski led his team in scoring with 66 points this year, bringing his career total to 160 points. This achievement places him fourth among all-time scorers for WSU kickers, surpassing Matt Fishburn's record from 1994-97 with his final three-pointer against Ferris State Bulldogs. Among Wayne State's top ten all-time scorers is Joique Bell, whose 576 points rank fourth in NCAA Division II history.

In terms of career achievements within the program's history, Milovanski's tally of 31 made field goals ranks fourth. He follows Stefan Terleckyj with 39 (2010-13), Paul Graham with 38 (2014-18), and David Chudzinski with 33 (2005-08).
