Wayne state women's basketball ranked sixth in GLIAC preseason poll

The Wayne State University women's basketball team has been placed sixth in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) preseason coaches poll. The announcement was made by the league office earlier today.

In the poll, each head coach ranked the other ten teams. Grand Valley State emerged as the leader with all ten first-place votes, accumulating 100 points. Ferris State followed with one first-place vote and 83 points. Northern Michigan secured third place with 75 points, while Parkside and Michigan Tech scored 71 and 68 points respectively, placing them ahead of Wayne State's 66 points. Saginaw Valley State (44), Purdue Northwest (31), Davenport (29), Roosevelt (20), and Lake Superior State (18) trailed behind Wayne State.

Additionally, senior forward Shea Tripp from Wayne State was named to the All-GLIAC First Team as part of the GLIAC Preseason teams release.

The complete list for the 2024-25 GLIAC Women's Basketball Preseason Teams is as follows:

First Team:

- Rylie Bisballe, Grand Valley State

- Kadyn Blanchard, Ferris State

- Nicole Kamin, Grand Valley State

- Bella Lenz, Michigan Tech

- Shea Tripp, Wayne State

Second Team:

- Cassidy Arni, Parkside

- Sheridan Flauger, Parkside

- Lillee Gustafson, Davenport

- Aleshia Jones, Saginaw Valley State

- Jacy Weisbrod, Northern Michigan

Rylie Bisballe from Grand Valley State has been recognized as the 2024-25 GLIAC Women's Basketball Preseason Player of the Year.

Wayne State concluded its final scrimmage/exhibition game this past Monday with a loss to Michigan State at a score of 101–40. The Warriors will start their regular season on Friday, November 8th at 4 p.m., facing Malone at WSU Fieldhouse.
